ROOTJAM COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

ROOTJAM COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Respect the RootJam Community

This is your community: each and every user makes the site what it is, so please do get involved.  However, we ask you not to abuse the RootJam site.  The RootJam Services all involve a certain level of trust and RootJam trusts You to be responsible: please respect that trust.
Have fun: there’s a lot to see here and lots of people making amazing stuff so why not be one of them?

Feedback: let people know what you think. Feedback is part of the experience and, when done with respect, can be a great way to make friends, share stories and make your time on RootJam richer. Leave comments, rate content: there’s a lot going on and many ways to participate.
If any of the content offends you and it violates our Terms of Service, EITHER click the button that says “Report Inappropriate Content” under the content OR report the content by email to support@RootJam.com and submit it for review by RootJam staff.
We ask you to keep to the following common-sense rules:
RootJam is not for any content or activity that is illegal in California or any other jurisdiction.
RootJam is not for pornography or sexually explicit content: if this describes your material, don’t post it on RootJam.
We encourage free speech and defend everyone’s right to express unpopular points of view but we do not permit hate speech (speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status and/or sexual orientation/gender identity).
Things such as predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, intimidation, invading privacy, revealing other people’s personal information and inciting others to commit violent acts or to violate the Terms of Service are taken very seriously: anyone caught doing these things may be banned permanently from RootJam.
Don’t generate Spam: don’t create misleading descriptions, tags, titles or thumbnails and don’t post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content.
Respect copyright: only upload tracks, stems and videos that you have made or that you are authorized to use. This means that you do not upload content that you did not make or use content to which someone else owns the copyright unless you have the necessary authorization.
When you create something original, you own the copyright for it. Likewise, when other people create content, they may have a copyright to it. As a creative community, it’s essential that everyone on RootJam respect the copyright of others. If you’re not sure if something will violate someone’s copyright, the safest thing to do is to create something completely original. If it’s all your creation, you do not have to worry about copyright as you own it. If you’ve recorded something from a CD, the radio, television, a DVD, a videotape or  downloaded content online, don’t post it unless you have permission.

Please take these rules seriously and take the spirit of them to heart: don’t try to look for loopholes but respect the spirit in which they have been created.
